AVL List GmbH is the world's largest privately-owned company for development, simulation and testing technology of powertrains (hybrid, combustion engines, transmission, electric drive, batteries and software) for passenger cars, trucks and large engines. AVL has about 3850 employees in Graz (Austria), and a global network of 45 representations and affiliates resulting in more than 9500 employees worldwide. AVL´s Powertrain Engineering division activities are focused on the research, design and development of various powertrains in the view of low fuel consumption, low emission, low noise and improved drivability.

The Advanced Simulation Technologies division develops and markets the simulation methods which are necessary for the powertrain development work. The Instrumentation and Test Systems division is an established manufacturer and provider of instruments and systems for powertrain and vehicle testing including combustion diagnostic sensors, optical systems as well as complete engine, powertrain and vehicle test beds. AVL supplies advanced development and testing solutions for conventional and hybrid vehicle components and systems like simulation platforms, development tools and system integration tools.

JAC-ITALY Design Center S.r.l. is an Italian high-tech competence centre, which is strongly based on the long-lasting tradition and culture available in the automotive domain in Turin. It is focused on style, design, engineering and automotive technology research with particular respect to breakthrough solution in the field of Electric cars. It has been established by JAC Motors (ref. Anhui Jianghuai Automobile CO., Ltd) which was founded in 1964 and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange (600418) in 2001.

By now, JAC Motors has exported products to the regions of South America, Europe, Africa, Asia and established friendly relationship with more than 130 countries around the world, besides, JAC Motors has more than 100 overseas 4S shops and 19 KD factories. I&M has a well-recognized position of excellence on some key areas, stemming from more than 150 years of combined experience on innovative projects and related automotive products. Fraunhofer Research Institute for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS is one of the 80 institutes of the Fraunhofer Society, the largest non-profit organization for applied research in Europe. Fraunhofer ENAS is located in Chemnitz. It focuses on research and development in the fields of smart system integration by applying micro and nanotechnologies with partners in Germany, Europe and worldwide.

The Micro Materials Center of Fraunhofer ENAS has over 25 years of experience in evaluating and optimizing the reliability and functional safety of electronic and mechanic systems by combining advanced multi-field FEM simulation with latest experimental methods for reliability and safety testing as well as for failure analysis and lifetime modeling.

University of Surrey

Project Partner

The University of Surrey is a modern research-led university, combining excellence in research with provision of higher education. It has participated in over 150 FP7/H2020 projects and has been consortium coordinator in more than 10 of them. According to the UK University League Tables, the University of Surrey is a top 20 institution in the UK, on a total of more than 100 universities.

The University will participate to EVC1000 with the Centre for Automotive Engineering (CAE), which is housed in the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. During the project the CAE will develop and implement advanced vehicle dynamics controllers and energy management systems for electric vehicles with multiple actuators.

Technisce Universitaet Ilmenau

Project Partner

Established in 1894, TU Ilmenau has a strong competence in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electric and electronic engineering, mobile communications, and nanoengineering. Automotive Engineering Group at the Thuringian Center of Innovation in Mobility (ThIMO) is the host of the EVC1000 project activities at TU Ilmenau. 

The expertise of the Automotive Engineering (AE) Group in EV design and automotive control is based on more than 15 years of experience allowed to gain unique competence in the active safety control systems for conventional and electric vehicles. This experience has grown in many European and national projects with industrial collaborators. The relevant outcomes of the AE Group were recognized with several FISITA and IEEE awards. The research activities of the AE Group have a clear experimentally-oriented focus. For this purpose, the AE Group accumulated various facilities, which will be also provided for the EVC1000 project: brake and chassis dyno test rigs with climatic chamber; rolling road dyno test rig; integrated hardware-in-the-loop test platform; servohydraulic test bench; state-of-the-art instrumentation for the full vehicle testing.
